Well, tonight I photographed my 8-8-8 wedding and it was great!  The couple Lisa and Drew booked me last Thursday…that’s right, I didn’t have a 8-8-8 until last week!  I have another wedding tomorrow, and I’m canoeing with the fam on Sunday, so I’ll blog the weddings on Monday!  Have a super weekend!  Here’s a pic of the location from today as I was leaving.

  • Rachael - Oh gosh! How did you get this shot? BEAUTIFUL! I need a lesson soon please!

  • nicole - such a perfect ambiance shot. loooove the rolling clouds

  • Julie - I was so upset when I couldn’t make it to the wedding. I heard everything was sooooo beautiful and wished that I could have been there to see Drew and Lisa’s special day. However, when I saw these pictures, I felt like I could experience a little piece of their day with them…you certainly captured the ambiance. I can’t wait to see more!

I’ve been a bad Papa since I have yet to blog this.  Kassy and I got kittens on the 4th of July!  We bought our home last August and have been throwing around the idea of getting cats, as we are both cat lovers.  We weren’t really aggressive in our searching, but I think it worked out quite well.  On our way to pick up a few things at the grocery store, we decided to stop into Petco and that’s were we saw our girls!  They are both darkish haired tabby’s.  We adopted them through Petco from Planned Pethood, so that was also a plus.  Their names are Moxie and Bokeh and we love em bunches!  So far, so good.  They’ve both been sick a little, as I understand a majority of kittens are within the first few months, but other than that, they’ve been a lot of fun and a great addition to our home and family.

Here’s Moxie!  Moxie is Kassy’s girl and is well, very moxie!  She’s a little easier to hold and was snugglin’ with Kassy literally from the day we picked them up!

Here she is on their perch, which they both love a ton.

Bokeh is my kitty and if you’re a photographer, you should know what bokeh is!  Bokeh comes from the Japanese word boke which means fuzzy and with photography refers to the out-of-focus areas of a photograph.  Portrait photographers in general love their bokeh and I do as well…both of them!  See below for example!  Here’s my Bokeh with some beautiful bokeh!

I really don’t know how she was able to get up there.

Here she is the day we picked them up!  She’s definitely my girl hanging out in my camera case!

They really are cuties, like most kittens and Kassy has taken like one fafillion pics of them with her P&S.  I need to take more to catch up!

They absolutely love snugglin’ with their momma!  Bokeh is the dominant one and will just sprawl out on Kassy regardless if Moxie is under her or not.

They don’t whine for attention one bit either…

And they respect one another so much…

What can I say…we love ’em!

  • nicole - super cute!

  • Wendy - I LOVE LOVE LOVE these pics!!!!!!! Call Hallmark stat!!! Those are just adorable—- I love kittens and I love the name Bokeh! How puurrrfect. (Corny… I know.)

  • Silvana - Oh my Gosh!!! They are sooooooo adorable. I have 3 kitties myself, so I can relate. You really did an amazing job on capturing the things that kitties do….and the clarity is unreal! Great work!
    Silvana ~

  • Wendy - Ok—- I have to leave another comment…. these pictures make me too happy.
I have turned into a 12 year old girl who needs these pictures on her Trapper Keeper…. can you make me a screen saver slide show?? 🙂 Kidding! (Sorta.)

  • Nema - OMG! Those are absolutely some of the cutest kitty pictures I’ve ever seen. LOOOOOVE them!!

Back on my sister’s birthday, July 11th, I photographed another wedding with my friend Kat Foley.  It was a very small and intimate wedding and was a nice change from the larger weddings I’ve been to.  Don’t get me wrong, I love large weddings, but it’s nice to have a little change every now and then.  Kristie and Bo had both their ceremony and reception at the stellar Barton Hills Country Club in Ann Arbor.  I went to high school with Kristie and it was nice to see her doing the grown up thing and seeing how well she’s doing and most importantly, how happy Bo makes her!  Both the ceremony, done by another fellow Saline High grad and best friend of the bride, Kim and the reception were top notch all the way.  It was such a comfortable and inviting environment to be in.  Since I was second shooting, I helped Kat out in whatever way I could, so as she was capturing the getting ready shots, I went to the banquet room and grabbed some gorgeous details!  Everyone kept saying how surprised they were that peach turned out to be such a great color and I have to agree, it totally was!  Here are some photos from Kristie and Bo’s big day!

Everything from her jewelry to her dress to her bouquet made Kristie look so elegant…

And here’s her handsome Navy boy Bo.

A few couple portraits on the golf course with some nice light…I LOVE these two!

DETAILS!!!

  • Wendy - Nice work, DF! Great detail shots!

I had a great time once again, shooting with my friend Jen of Jennifer Lynn Photography yesterday.  The bride and groom, Jane and Matt, were wonderful to work with.  It was a slightly different experience for me, as I was second shooting for the second time with Jen, but this time we got split up to cover different parts of the wedding.  I focused more of the day on details and helping Jen out when I could.  The ceremony took place at the gorgeous First United Methodist Church in Jackson, MI.  The floral arrangements were absolutely stunning…Viviano Flower Shop did an incredible job.  A trolley picked up the bridal party to be whisked off to take pictures before bringing them to The Country Club of Jackson for the celebration!  The venue was decorated beautifully with TONS of details, details, details!  The room was glowing with pink and was so pretty…it was top notch all the way!  We were able to grab the newlyweds for about 7 minutes during dinner to grab some quick couple portraits and then it was inside to boogy on down.  It seemed that Matt especially was having a great time rockin’ the dance floor and I couldn’t help but keep taking pictures of his moves.  All in all, it was a marvelous night and I’m glad I was able to come along and help out and be a part of Jane and Matt’s day.  The pics are not totally cohesive as I was second shooting, but I think you’ll like them!  Enjoy!

I couldn’t help but use this window for some details…

Looks like a happy guy to me!

A room with a view…

CUTE!!!

Mmmmm…romantic!

Do I have to tell you how good looking they are?  I think not.

Or how good looking they are together?  I think not…

This image has so much more emotion, don’t ya think?

The first ring shot was a bit monochromatic, so I had to try it with a different flavor!

A few details…gotta love it!

The first dance…

You know I love me some ‘Cupid Shuffle’!

I told you he knew how to get down!

I think the boys might have had a little Captain in them.

No worries…he’s got it.

Those boys really wanted that garter…

And here’s how it played out.

A lovely send off to a lovely evening!
