WOO HOO!!!!  One of the best tools available to photographers today, has just been officially updated…Adobe Photoshop Lightroom!  I have been using Lightroom 1.x since it’s early BETA’s and purchased it the day it came out back in February ’07.  I also have been using Lightroom 2 BETA since it came out and love it, love it, love it!  I have been recently tempted by Apple’s Aperture 2.1 and do like the program quite a bit, but I just love Lightroom too darn much, so I’m locked in for good now.  For you Aperture users out there, I do like Aperture and gave it a solid 2 months of playing around to ‘prove’ itself and there are definitely some sweet features, but for me, it’s Adobe all the way.  I mean they do have this product that maybe you’ve heard about called, Photoshop.  Also, I use what I believe to be the best piece of software available for album design, InDesignAdobe is killer!!  So if you’re sitting there wondering why you don’t have Lightroom 2 yet, stop wondering and buy it…it will make you one happy photographer!  I just had to share my happiness with all of you!!!!

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 is $299 for first time purchasers, or $99 for students or to upgrade from Lightroom 1.x.

  • Wendy - Got it- upgraded it- how do I use it? 🙂 🙂
    Seems very cool so far!

  • Sheila - Love to see our pic in the program =) Great job… looking forward to seeing you again with that camera of yours…

  • Rachael - Oh no….I was just getting competent at the original Lightroom! How different is it?

I have been looking forward to Jessica and Chris’ wedding for a while now and let me tell you…it was so much fun!  Jessica and Chris are such a carefree couple and it made the day so laid back and fun and I couldn’t help but smile.  I also got to see a couple I photographed last August; Brodie and Christa and to meet a future couple I will be photographing next May; Jon and Emily.  Jessica and some of the bridesmaids had their hair and makeup done at the crazy sleek Douglas J eXchange downtown Ann Arbor.  The ceremony was held at the Holy Trinity Student Parish on the campus of Eastern Michigan University.  After the ceremony since there was some rain, just Jessica, Chris and I went to a park to grab a few intimate shots of the newlyweds.  After that, it was on to the reception at the schnazzy Weber’s Inn for some good ol’ rockin’ out!!!  Everyone who attended the wedding that I got to chat with was so genuine and it was so easy to see why I had been looking forward to their day so much…talk about good company.  Thank you so much for being so wonderful and letting me capture all that went on on your wedding day!!

A little Aveda makeup…

Chris’ mother giving him a little help with the boutonierre…

Definitely not a one person job…

Neither is this…

Awww…

The radiant bride..

And her studly groom…that’s right I just brought back the term studly.

Everythings ok…

The flower girls were extra cute…

Fellas upstairs…ladies downstairs…

Chris moments before the big moment…

I told you they were extra cute.

Here she comes…

And there he is…

I love these looks!

Would you believe the Deacon was talking about the movie Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome right here?  He was.

Ring me!

Come on baby light my fire.

Love it!!!

A little df signature pano…

Can we say cute?!?

Smoochy time!

And they’re off!

Arrrrrr….

Some alone time at Lillie Park.

I loved the emotion…

I mean come on?!?!

Taking a little cover under a tree…

This says it all!  I think this will be a perfect background for your new iPhone‘s you two!

A little dance practice before the performance.

Excuse me, I ordered the LARGE bridal party!!!

Here they are!

Takin’ a quick glance at the reception slideshow…

The cake cutting was interesting…

Anyone have a camera I can borrow?

And it ended with them smashing their own cake in their faces!

Previous couple Brodie and Christa.  It was so great to see you two.  Brodie and Christa have their first anniversary coming up and also might be moving to Florida.

Future clients Jon and Emily.  I am really looking forward to their wedding next May after talking with them.  You two rock…we’re going to have so much fun!!!

First dance.

Lots of this going on…

Father and daughter…

For me, this was the most emotional part of the night.  My eyes were running like crazy…even the eyepiece on my camera was wet after this dance.  The embrace that Chris and his mother shared was so touching and beautiful…I love that you can tell so much from such a simple gesture.

Lets boogy!

Chris looked a little embarrassed to be dancing with his mom, but you know he had fun…

  • Wendy - Nice work!! Love the emotions you captured— another fine job, D!

  • Christa - Great job again Dustin! And of course we love the picture of us!!!

  • Jessica - Thank you so much Dustin! It was such a perfect day, and you captured it perfectly. I also just realized that I have really bad posture – my grandma would kill me! 🙂

On Saturday, I had a brand new wedding experience that totally rocked my socks off!  Sheila and Geoff had a very small, intimate, surprise wedding!  They had a limo take them to the homes of the guests, such as Sheila’s grandmother and Geoff’s parents.  It was so much fun and great to see the reaction from the unsuspecting guests.  With all guests in tow, we drove to Heritage Gardens in Shelby Township for the ceremony…it was so cute!  I was driving for over 4 hours, but it was all worth it, as everything went off without a hitch and it was so wonderful and fun!  The ceremony took place in a little gazebo in the gardens and was the perfect size for such an event.  Just to give you an idea of how beautiful the gardens are, we ran into 4 other wedding parties having pictures taken while we were there.  Sheila and Geoff seemed relaxed and I could tell they were really enjoying their day and they were a joy to photograph in the lovely light we had following the ceremony.  I can’t wait for the reception which is on a yacht a little less than a month away!  Thank you so much you two for letting me be there to capture this very unique and fun wedding!!!!

  • Fritz Jaessing - Hi Dustin, I used to hang out with your sister back in the day. I have quite an interest in photography myself but I haven’t had a chance to take it as far you have. Very nice photos. The macros of the rings are very cool. Wedding photography tends to fall into a rut with many artists but you have some great new angles and ideas. I’ve always been a big fan of the depth of field shots also, that blurred content in the foreground always makes a nice natural border and you did a nice job utilizing the technique. I would also be interested to know how you got such wonderful blue color in the Meghan/Alex wedding. By the way, what camera are you shooting with? Anyway, glad to see you are doing well for yourself. Take care and keep up the good work.

  • Alisha E. - Great fun images! Love the ring shot!!! SUPER!!!!

  • lacy - Hi Dustin, insanely beautiful images here! those ring shots POP! Great talking to you earlier!

Laura, Dave and I started out at the University of Michigan Golf Course.  Dave and Laura both enjoy golfing and Dave really enjoys golfing…like many of my family members and others worldwide.  This was my first time even stepping foot on the U of M golf course.  It was so gorgeous and the light that day was beautiful as well.  The golf course has it’s own huge block right outside downtown and I had no idea that it could provide such scenic views and make you feel like you’re not in a city.  We grabbed a few shots there, before heading downtown and walking around and checking out some nostalgic places for Laura.  I got a chance to find out more details about their August wedding and I’m so much more excited now…they have a lot of really cool, uniques things planned, that will definitely make it stand out as a day to remember for all people attending.  On with the pics!!!

  • Alisha E. - OH wow…TOTALLY gorgeous!!!! I LOVE the golfing shots. Excellent PP!!!!

  • Sylvia - wow! you did such an amazing job capturing the “love” of my two very close friends. and it wouldn’t be dave without golf, so these shots are perfect!

  • Sandy Banfield - Pictures are amazing. You two looks so happy! 🙂 I’m so excited for you both. See you at the wedding!
